Why Outdoor Workouts in Qatar Summer Are a Bad Idea
Qatar's Meteorology Department called June 7, 2026 the official start of the scorching season -- the annual rise of the Pleiades star that locals have tracked for centuries as the signal that real heat has arrived. They weren't wrong. This weekend, Doha is sitting at 45°C with dust in the air.
Going for a run at 7am sounds doable in theory. In practice, the humidity makes it feel closer to 59°C once your body tries to cool down and can't. That's not a dramatic stat -- that's the actual heat index Doha recorded this July based on weather data.
So if you're serious about staying active between June and September, the answer isn't discipline. It's moving your workouts indoors. And Qatar, to its credit, has built some genuinely good options.
